AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A local tiny home village will be co-constructed by Bill Beazley Homes, the local developer announced Thursday.

In a project spearheaded on Merry Street by Bridge Builder Communities, the 25 tiny homes will house foster youths who have aged out of the system and need a place to go. The community is meant to not only provide housing but also teach essential life skills and offer services.

“This project impacts not just one family or individual; it is ongoing and can benefit hundreds of young adults who have aged out of the foster system,” said Stephen Beazley, president of Bill Beazley Homes.

The $5 million tiny home community’s groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for March 19 at 10:30 a.m. at 1140 Merry St.

Bill Beazley Homes says the project is part of its broader strategy to build thriving communities while uplifting marginalized youths in transition.

“There are 11,000 young adults in care in the state of Georgia,” said Jackson Drumgoole, the founder and CEO of Bridge Builder Communities. “Once they leave care, between the mental, emotional, physical abuse and lack of family , they are left on their own, and we want to make sure no young adult is left on their own.”
