Cops arrest man suspected of luring kids with candy in Sylvania
SYLVANIA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Screven County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect who allegedly enticed children into his vehicle on Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said Bobby Roberts was taken into custody around 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Authorities say that Roberts allegedly enticed children to get inside his vehicle by offering them candy.
Man arrested after allegedly striking 9-year-old
A man has been charged with cruelty to children in the first degree after allegedly striking a juvenile, according to arrest warrants obtained from the Columbia County Magistrate Court.

The sheriff’s office says when deputies made with Roberts’ vehicle, he decided to flee from law enforcement.
Roberts’ vehicle was towed due to it being stuck in the mud in the woods, according to deputies.
The sheriff’s office says the children are safe at home.
$5K reward offered in search for S.C. murder suspect
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the fatal shooting of a man in South Carolina.

According to officials, the investigation into Roberts’s involvement in the attempted kidnapping is still under active investigation.
Roberts is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials say Roberts is being held at the Screven County Sheriff’s Office.
