Local plumber gives tips on how protect your home from cold weather
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Dangerous cold temperatures are gripping the CSRA.
The extended time we will be below freezing can cause pipes to burst.

“A couple of things that I recommend doing are trickling your faucets at night, hot and cold about the size of a pencil head. Definitely know where your emergency shut-off valve is located so you can turn the water off in case of an emergency. If you don’t know, you can reach out to a plumber to locate it or install one for you,” said Mitch Buzhardt, manager at Meetze Plumbing.

News 12′s First Alert Weather Team says temperatures will likely drop below freezing around 8 p.m. on Thursday evening and will not get above freezing until around 10 a.m. Friday morning.
A cold weather advisory is in effect for the CSRA from 10 p.m. Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday.
Due to the cold weather, the city of Augusta is offering day and overnight warming shelters ready to keep you safe and warm.
