Man hospitalized after police chase ends in crash in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man is in the hospital after a police chase resulted in a crash in Augusta on Thursday.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, at 4:41 p.m., a trooper checked a white Dodge Avenger going 91 mph in a 45 mph speed zone on Hephzibah McBean Road.
Wilkes County deputies search for wanted 69-year-old man
The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in finding a wanted 69-year-old man.

Officials say the trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle immediately initiated a pursuit.
The driver continued at a high rate of speed and disregarded the safety of the public, officials say.





According to officials, the trooper positioned his vehicle to the left and attempted to execute a PIT maneuver. However, the driver slammed on the brakes, causing the trooper to drive up beside him.
The driver then “rammed the trooper’s patrol vehicle in the enger side and immediately lost control of the vehicle,” officials say.
$5K reward offered in search for S.C. murder suspect
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the fatal shooting of a man in South Carolina.

The driver traveled through a fence and ditch before striking a truck in a private driveway, GSP officials say.
Troopers say EMS responded to the scene and transported the driver to the hospital, where he remains in “serious condition.”
