S.C. prosecutor meets with murder victim Brittanee Drexel’s mom
CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - The mother of Brittanee Drexel was back in Horry County to meet with the area’s top prosecutor in South Carolina.
$5K reward offered in search for S.C. murder suspect
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the fatal shooting of a man in South Carolina.
Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson confirmed that he spoke with Drexel’s mother, Dawn Conley, on Thursday.
The meeting came exactly one week after the girlfriend of Drexel’s killer, Angel Vause, was sentenced to federal prison for lying to the FBI about details of the case.

After the sentence was handed down, Conley said she would focus on bringing kidnapping charges against Vause in Horry County.
“We talked about her feelings and wants and I told them about ramifications and difficulties,” Richardson said of the meeting. “The major thing is not doing anything that would mess up what has already been done.”
Richardson went on to say that he could not provide Conley an immediate answer on Thursday.
Conley has also filed civil lawsuits related to her daughter’s death that are set to go to trial as soon as next week.
Suspect in fatal S.C. Walmart shooting charged with murder, bond denied
A 19-year-old accused of shooting and killing a man in a South Carolina Walmart will remain behind bars after being denied bond Sunday morning.

Vause’s boyfriend, Raymond Moody, confessed in May 2022 that the two picked up Drexel on April 25, 2009.
Drexel was walking down the street and Moody asked her if she wanted to party and smoke marijuana.
The three ended up at a campsite in Georgetown County, where Moody kidnapped, raped and killed the teenager.
Her remains were found in the Harmony Township area over a decade later.
Court documents state Vause talked with the FBI in May 2022, telling an agent she went to pick up keys during the killing - but was driving in another direction for a different reason.

Since mid-April, there’s been a wave of homicides and other sweeping the CSRA. Although as the largest city, Augusta has been hit especially hard, the crime wave is affecting places large and small.
She also said that Drexel kept her cell phone when the FBI said Vause took Drexel’s phone and dumped it between Georgetown and Charleston counties.
Vause added that Drexel voluntarily ed her and Moody, but the FBI said Drexel was actually abducted “under false pretenses.”
Moody also told FBI agents and other authorities in November that he received a text from Vause approximately a week or so before Drexel’s abduction saying she “had always fantasized about snatching some girl.”
According to Moody, the two went “girl hunting” in April 2009, which eventually led to Drexel’s abduction and subsequent events.
