New Ellenton suspect arrested 1 day after SWAT incident
NEW ELLENTON, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The New Ellenton police chief says the suspect in Monday’s SWAT situation has been arrested.
Christopher Parker was taken into custody around 3 p.m. Tuesday at the New Ellenton Police Department parking lot, according to officials.
On Tuesday morning, the New Ellenton police chief reached out to the U.S. Marshals Service for help finding Parker.
Police Chief Joshua Solomon says four arrest warrants were issued for Parker.
Below is the latest photo we have of Parker. According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, the booking photo is from 2012 when Parker was arrested for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Authorities say they were searching for Parker after a SWAT situation in New Ellenton on Monday morning.
Police responded to the scene on Nondron Street and Dry Branch Road in New Ellenton around 9:15 a.m.
Authorities say a firearm was fired in the home, but no one was struck by a bullet.
However, law enforcement says through investigation, authorities did find that a victim was assaulted. The victim was transported to the hospital by Aiken County emergency medical staff and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 11:30 a.m., law enforcement says there was a standoff at the home. Around 12:30 p.m., Parker was no longer in the home.
The police department says it was rumored that Parker had gotten a ride from an unknown individual.
The police department stated “anyone assisting or attempting to help this wanted subject, they will be charged to the fullest extent of the law and brought to justice”.
Solomon says the arrest warrants consists of weapon-related charges, because Parker is “a felon in possession of a firearm.”

The warrants include charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the New Ellenton Police Department.
Parker will be facing an additional criminal charge of felon in possession of a handgun that he had in his possession during his arrest, the police department says.
“He’s making multiple threats to harm innocent people on his social media and we are taking those very seriously,” said Solomon.

A News 12 crew said there were more than 10 law enforcement vehicles on the scene around noon Monday.
The Aiken County SWAT team and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office assisted the New Ellenton Police Department with the incident on Monday.
2 children killed in home fire across from Gloverville Park
Two children were killed in a home fire across from Gloverville Park on Monday, according to authorities.

The shooting was the third in the CSRA in two days.
On Sunday, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office says Telvin Osborne, 30, was found in the master bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators say Osborne was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The incident comes amid an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed about 200 lives in nearly three years across the CSRA.
Communities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River.
