Troopers report alcohol odor after crash kills 1 in Tignall
TIGNALL, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Georgia State Patrol has released more details on what happened in the crash that killed a 27-year-old and left a 17-year-old in critical condition in Wilkes County.
Wilkes County Sheriff Darrell Powers told us the crash happened on Clark Station Church Road on Friday night around 10:30 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found a mini-van that had left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned multiple times, Powers says.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death, we learned Monday morning.

The Georgia State Patrol says the mini-van failed to maintain its lane and exited the road, before hitting two trees.
GSP also says the mini-van had a strong alcohol order, and Beast Unleashed Monster drinks were found inside.
Wilkes County deputies say they found that the 17-year-old driver had been ejected from the vehicle.
Powers says when rescue personnel arrived, the enger was removed from the vehicle and both were transported to a landing zone to be taken from the scene via helicopter.
Driver seriously injured in Augusta crash on Deans Bridge Road
One person is in serious condition after being injured in a major car crash in Augusta.

Wilkes County EMA Deputy Director Tina Bailey said before the arrival of the medical helicopters, the enger, Stanley Walton, 27, of Washington, succumbed to his injuries, according to Wilkes County Coroner and EMS Director Dan Wright.
His injuries were due to multi-system trauma, according to officials.
Officials say the teen driver was airlifted to WellStar MCG where he is being treated for his injuries.
3 killed in high-speed police chase on Georgia interstate
A high-speed chase ended with three people dead in Crisp County – one of the latest in a string of police chases with serious consequences in Georgia.

Wilkes County EMS, the coroner’s office, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department, Washington Fire/Rescue and multiple volunteer fire agencies assisted in the crash.
Powers says the accident has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol for further investigation.
The accident is still being investigated by the Specialized Collison Reconstruction Team and is pending charges.
