Teenager charged in Orangeburg murder of 48-year-old
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with the deadly shooting of a man outside a store, according to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety.
Officials said Melachi Johnson was charged with murder, possession of a handgun under 18, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and attempted armed robbery.
Johnson will be tried as an adult, according to officials.
Army of rescuers saves man after building collapse in North Augusta
A man was rescued after a building collapsed on him in North Augusta, trapping him and bringing dozens of first responders to the scene to try to save him.

The shooting happened on Feb. 7, outside the Dodges Gas Station on the 1800 block of Old Edisto Drive.
Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle identified the victim of the shooting as George C. Caldwell, 48, of Bamberg.

According to an arrest warrant, Johnson approached the victim, pointed a gun and reached into his pockets. Caldwell reportedly pushed Johnson away before being shot in the upper body.
Security cameras captured the incident and Johnson was identified through video evidence and witness statements.

The South Carolina House approved its own version of a bill that would let parents spend taxpayer money on private school tuition.

Officials said bond was not granted in magistrate court.
A bond hearing with a circuit court judge was scheduled for April 16 at 9 a.m.
