2 arrested after infant found with multiple bone fractures

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two people have been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after an infant was found to have multiple bone fractures, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Kristopher David Blackwood of Warrenville and Brittany Ford were arrested on Jan. 25, according to jail bookings.

According to an incident report, on Dec 28, 2024, officers responded to the 3000 block of Richland Avenue West, Econo Lodge, in reference to a well-being check.

Officers say they followed up the next day, searched the hotel room and took two juveniles into Emergency Protective Custody.

According to the incident report, officers obtained medical records that showed the 6-week-old victim was found to have multiple bone fractures, a laceration to the upper lip, as well as injuries to his genitalia.

“The infant was also found to have an untreated wound on the buttocks that resulted in significant deformity of the area,” according to the incident report.

The incident report states that after a review of video surveillance, it was found that the 6-week-old victim and 6-year-old victim were left unattended in the hotel room for a period of time by both Blackwood and Ford.

Blackwood and Ford are both charged with three counts of unlawful neglect of a child.

Jail bookings show that Blackwood was arrested again on Thursday and also charged with abuse/to inflict great bodily injury on a child after authorities found additional information on the origin of the infant`s injuries.
