S.C. woman saves 7 kids from fire; home is a total loss
BRANCHVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - A South Carolina homeowner is working to recover after a fire destroyed her home in Branchville over the weekend.
Katrina Love, the owner of the home, said there were also seven children in the home during the fire — all of which got out of the home safely.
“My whole life is gone really, that was everything I had,” said Love.
Fire crews were likely headed to the property to investigate on Monday.

The McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office added flock cameras recently and their addition has given them new ways to fight crime faster and coordinate with other counties.

Love’s home is a complete loss.
“We were asleep. I was laying in my bed and I saw a bright, bright light so I looked up over me and then I was like ‘Oh my God, the house is on fire,’” said Love.
That’s when she said her maternal instincts kicked in.
“I don’t know. It’s adrenaline and me as a mother. It’s to get out every kid you can,” she said.

South Carolina’s gas tax is at its peak, and a substantial amount of money in recent state budgets has gone toward road work.

Room by room, she gathered seven children in total. Two were her own and five she was babysitting all ranging in age from three to 13.
“By the time we made it out of the back door, there was nothing left at all. We barely made it out the back door,” said Love.
Sadly, one of Love’s cats died and another she said escaped but has not been found.
“Honestly, I don’t know what’s next. I’m just going day by day. My awesome work family here at Food Lion has put me in a hotel so I can get back and forth to work and stuff like that, but honestly, I’m not sure. I’m just going to have to do it day by day,” she said.
The fire is still being investigated.
