AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Temperatures staying warmer than average through the weekend. Beautiful day today, but cloud cover will build Thursday through the weekend. Severe weather looks possible Sunday - we’ve issued a FIRST ALERT to keep you prepared and updated.
Staying mostly dry Thursday and Friday, a stray shower is possible Thursday with cloudy skies most of the day. Highs will stay warm Thursday and Friday in the mid to upper 70s.
There will be a total lunar eclipse early Friday morning between 1-5 AM, with the maximum eclipse happening at 2:58 AM. There could be a few clouds, but the forecast looks decent for viewing later this week!
Rain chances increase this weekend with our next incoming cold front. Showers will be possible late in the day Saturday but high temperatures will still reach near 80 degrees. Strong to severe thunderstorms look possible Sunday as the main front brings in a line of thunderstorms.

We’ve issued a FIRST ALERT to keep you aware of the threat as of now all modes of severe weather are possible. That includes strong wind gusts, hail, flooding, and tornadoes. Once we get closer to Sunday, we will have a better understanding of the exact threats and timing for the CSRA. We are in the monitoring phase right now but will have a clearer view of threats and intensity by the end of the work week.
