Education Department buildings close for security, including in Georgia
ATLANTA, Ga. - Department of Education staff got a notice that offices would be closed Wednesday for “security reasons,” CBS News reported.
It happened as the agency cut half its staff as President Donald Trump vows to wind the agency down.
Staff were instructed to leave by 6 p.m. on Tuesday at all regional and national offices, including Atlanta.

The notice said staff are permitted to work from home on Wednesday and offices will reopen on Thursday.
The notice comes as the Department of Education announced on Tuesday that it plans to lay off 1,300 employees.
The Trump istration has been pushing to shut down the department, and President Donald Trump has been expected to sign an executive order to dismantle it.
Shutting down the Department of Education would likely require an act of Congress, the Associated Press reported.
