AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man has been arrested after a shooting incident on the 3400 block of Linderwood Drive in Augusta.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Martese Parris, of Millen, is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend on Feb. 16.

Deputies say they responded to the 2600 block of Richwood Drive in reference to a gunshot wound.

While on scene, deputies learned the shooting location occurred on Linderwood Drive.

According to the incident report, the victim stated she and Parris were in an argument and she told him to leave her house.

The victim stated she went into the bathroom of the home and Parris shot her in the upper thigh of her left leg, according to the report.

The incident report states the victim left the scene and went to her friend’s house, who called 911.

Former Saluda County staffer charged for discounting taxes for family, friends

A former employee of the Saluda County Tax Auditor’s Office was charged with manipulating the tax bills of friends and family to cheat the county out of thousands of dollars.

The victim was transported to Wellstar due to her injuries, according to deputies.

When deputies responded to Linderwood Drive to secure the scene of the shooting, they were notified Parris’ vehicle was last seen going southbound on Peach Orchard Road at Jesse Way.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and city officials of Millen, Ga. were notified to be on the lookout for Parris.

Parris was arrested on Tuesday in connection to the incident, according to jail reports.

He is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, deputies say.
