Mysterious ‘box demon’ seen leaving a ‘gift’ at homeowner’s door

YORK COUNTY, Penn. (Gray News) - A homeowner in Pennsylvania got quite the scare on the Ring camera Tuesday when they were visited by someone proclaiming to be the “box demon.”

Camera footage from the homeowner shows someone in a mask drop a large cardboard box in front of their door.

After delivering the box, the person walks over to the Ring camera and taps it before saying, “I am the box demon.”

The mask the person is wearing appears to be made of a large paper plate with a face drawn on it and construction paper taped like flower petals.

They announce they’ve left the box as a gift for the homeowners before the video ends. Police reported the box left on the doorstep was empty.

Authorities reported the homeowner didn’t recognize the person or know what the term “box demon” could mean.

The Northern York County Regional Police Department is investigating.
