AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism hosted the 17th annual breakfast at the gallops Friday morning at the training track.

Those who came out got to see juvenile and older campaigners before they leave Aiken for a number of racetracks throughout the country.

Local trainers were on hand, talking with participants about the different training methods for Aiken’s equine athletes.

Attendees also got to meet this year’s speaker, Ramon Dominguez.

He’s a retired jockey with more than 4,900 career wins.

“This is a wonderful place,” said Dominquez. “I’ve never been here to witness horses training, and I’m looking forward to the trials and definitely can see how it is a unique place for horses to come.”

A portion of the proceeds from the event will the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum.
