WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump traveled to the Justice Department to deliver what the White House is calling a major “law and order” speech.

The President is touting his crackdown on illegal immigration and announcing new steps to combat what he calls the weaponization of the department of Justice.

President Trump received a warm welcome at the DOJ, which once targeted him for federal prosecution in two separate criminal cases.

“They spied on my campaign, launched one hoax and disinformation operation after another broke the law and a colossal scale persecuted my family. Staff and ers raided my home, Mar-A-Lago, and did everything within their power to prevent me from becoming the president of the United States.”

Then citizen Donald Trump was investigated for retaining classified documents in violation of the Presidential Records Act along with his actions on January 6, 2021. Both prosecutions were put aside in keeping with Justice Department policy concerning presidents currently in office.

Also at the Justice Department, the president spoke about what he called his istration’s success in securing the US-Mexico border from migrants trying to enter the country illegally.

“On day one of my istration, I declared a national emergency on our southern border. Our first full month in office, we achieved the lowest level of illegal border crossings ever recorded, even lower than four years ago. For years, Democrats and the media kept saying that we needed new legislation. We had to have new legislation, we needed it immediately.” He added, “And I never had legislation, or I had the best border in the history of our country for almost four years.”

The president also spoke of the DOJ’s efforts to combat what he calls the weaponization of the Department of Justice. Some of the president’s critics argue that by purging career lawyers at the DOJ, it’s the president who has weaponized the department at the white House.

In keeping with the tradition of independence of the Department of Justice and FBI, presidents rarely travel to the agency, much less give speeches.
