Here’s an update on debris pickup in North Augusta
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Almost 5,000 loads of debris have been hauled off in Aiken County. Like North Augusta, the state owns and cleans up many of its roads.
North Augusta City Council shared the status of Hurricane Helene debris removal on Monday night.
City crews have removed all stumps from the city-maintained roads, but not the SCDOT roads. The crews are cleaning up roads from East to West that are owned by both SCDOT and North Augusta.
“North Augusta owns about 25% or about 26 miles of roads in the city,” said North Augusta Mayor Briton Williams. “The other 75% of the roads are owned by SCDOT. So because we don’t own most of those roads on Hammond Hill, we cannot dictate them.”
3 tornadoes confirmed in CSRA during Sunday’s severe weather
At least three tornadoes have been confirmed in the CSRA from severe storms Sunday morning. Burke County saw two EF-0 tornadoes and Barnwell County saw one EF-0 tornado.
The city is getting a contractor ready to clean up the 11 stormwater sites that have debris in them.
Limited yard waste operation is back. Crews will pick up four cases of yard bags or a city-issued yard cart, but no loose yard debris. You do not have to put the bags out if you don’t want to.
