How to get free checked bags with Southwest Airlines after policy changes
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - You may have heard the news from Southwest Airlines; the company will begin charging customers a fee to check bags starting with flights booked on May 28th.
But there are still ways you can get this perk.
If you fly Southwest Airlines, Rapid Rewards A-list preferred and customers traveling on Business Select fares will still get two free checked bags.
Kindergarten registration is open in Richmond County
The Richmond County School System has announced that kindergarten registration is open for the 2025-2026 school year.
If you have a Rapid Rewards credit card, you will be eligible for one free checked bag.
That’s a common perk of having a credit card with most major airlines.
If you fly American Airlines, they offer cards that will get you your first checked bag free for you and up to four others traveling on your reservation.
Augusta leaders provide update on Helene debris cleanup
The city of Augusta says it’s nearing the completion of debris cleanup from Hurricane Helene.
If you choose Delta, you can pick a card that will get you your first checked bag free for you and up to eight others on your reservation.
Overall, regardless of the airline you choose, status and a credit card are the two main factors that help you get those free checked bags.
