Beacon Bluff project could finish up ‘within the next month’
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - As the CSRA prepares to receive thousands of patrons from all over for golf week, we’re checking back on the status of Beacon Bluff.
We last spoke to officials in December, but as of Tuesday, it appears things are not as they should be.
We spoke with David Brannon of Palmetto Peach Development. He says they had hoped to be done before the Masters, and even though that’s not the case, they aren’t too far behind.
“We are very close to completion on the core-shell of Beacon Bluff right now,” said Brannon. “We should be wrapping up within the next month.”
Downtown businesses push for communication amid construction
Millions of dollars in improvements for downtown Augusta could negatively impact the businesses it’s trying to help.
Originally hoping to be done by Masters, he said, “There have been some supply chain disruptions that have gone on that have delayed us slightly, but for the most part it’s just normal construction issues, you get rain, you get weather.”
Now hopeful for the next few months, “Tenants are currently doing their upfits so businesses will likely be open in May, June. We’re happy with the progress thus far,” said Brannon.
Chaleen Deer, a North Augusta resident, says as she watches the area grow, “Definitely picking up more. For sure, within these last couple of years. Especially with all this new development.”
However, she notices some issues.
School bus driver, 2 students taken to the hospital after crash
We are learning new details on a crash involving an Aiken County school bus and an SUV that occurred on Monday afternoon.

“Parking is kind of an issue and just with car traffic,” said Deer.
Overall, she says she loves the new look.
“We eat at the restaurants. My children and I walk on the river. We were here this morning taking a photo shoot for my business. It’s amazing. It’s so peaceful. This is my spot. That’s where we like to come and relax,” said Deer.
“A couple of months ago, we welcomed our first apartment tenants, and we’ve still got a few apartments to rent,” said Brannon.
Multiple people wanted for questioning in connection to 2024 Dollar General death
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 5 people for questioning in connection to a homicide outside a Dollar General in Augusta.

And right next door–
“The cancer treatment center is Augusta Oncology Multi-Specialty Clinics. They are already seeing their first patients. They opened up back in February, probably hitting full capacity, I would say around June,” said Brannon.
All with one goal in mind, the community.
Brannon says that although they aren’t able to benefit much from the tournament this year, they hope that people see the growth and come back to check it out next year.
