AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Patrons fly in from all around the world to get on the grounds of the Augusta National Golf Club.

But their stay in Augusta may be brief.

From Dallas to New York City — patrons are coming in from all over for a little slice of what they consider heaven.

The Augusta Regional Airport says they’re doing their part to make sure you get here.

Hopelands Gardens concert series kicks off in Aiken

The Hopelands Concert series went on Monday night with a performance by The Lady and the Gents.

From more staff -- to added flights from American Airlines and Delta Airlines.

There are signs of golf week are everywhere.

”During the week, we’ll see about 30,000 engers and that’s an average month for us,” Lauren Smith, the Assistant Director of Public Relations for Augusta Regional Airport says.

And whether you have tournament tickets or not — the Augusta Regional Airport is bringing the course to you.

These 2 amateurs are living the dream at Masters Tournament

“I don’t know that it’s totally hit me that I’m playing in the Masters,” Justin Hastings said, “but it’s obviously super exciting and I’m super grateful to be here.”

“Delta Airlines is the lead sponsor of the 2025 Masters Tournament, so Delta partnered with Augusta National to put together this beautiful display in our terminal,” Smith explains. “That highlights the different floral and trees that you would see at the national, you can hear the sights and the sounds as if you’re out on the course.”

This week, thousands of people are traveling to the Garden City — like Merrick Egan, who says, “Nothing like coming to Augusta like going to the National. It’s the best. Nothing like it. It’s the best sporting event in the world. This is my 17th year.”

But some people are new to this, like Tobin Petrie.

“I walked the course, saw some players, ate all the food, did all the things I was told to do,” Petrie says. “It was lovely.”

Last competitive Masters is emotional for Bernhard Langer

“It is time to quit,” Bernhard Langer said. “I’m just not competitive on this course anymore. ... I can still compete there but not at this distance.”

Patrons will be arriving all week.

“I know the rest of the week is going to be quite beautiful,” Smith says. “We’re really anticipating those numbers to increase day by day.”

And as crowds continue to grow each year — the airport is keeping up.

“Last year we expanded the gatehouse and added two additional jet bridges,” Smith explains. “Now we have those fully functional and all of those coming through, they won’t necessarily see the ground boarding. They will be able to plane and deep plane through our new jet bridges.”

‘There’s no reason I can’t do it again,’ Schauffele says

“Whenever things get weird or difficult, I just remind myself that if you want to win one of the biggest events that we play in, you’ve got to deal with these things,” he said.

And even though the patron’s trips were short — they say they wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

“Everybody’s been very friendly the whole time,” Egan says. “I think everyone’s very proud that golf week is in Augusta as always.”

The airport is recommending something said it doesn’t say often — arrive at least 3 hours before your departure time.

Because although the airport is small — the crowd is big.
