AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A mobile health care tour is meeting people where they are in the community this week.

Georgia Cancer Center was at Kroger on Tuesday, providing screenings and other resources with a mobile tour.

It’s a part of Team Tune-up up which educates people about lung anatomy and lung health.

People can also learn about nutrition, getting vaccines and more.

On Wednesday, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum is honoring black caddies and their roles in helping the world’s top golfers win the golf tournament.

They even get to see a NASCAR Cup Series race car.

We spoke with a doctor who says this is a great way to give health care access to those who may not have it.

“Georgia ranks last in health outcomes and also in regards to access,” said Dr. Dan Miller. “We have to go to the people, so this is the beginning. Having this event for three days, and as we go out further, like lung cancer screening, and a mobile unit later this fall, we will go to the rural areas in the state.”

The mobile tour is partnered with Kroger Pharmacy to expand its reach.

The mobile tour is posted at Kroger on Washington Road until Thursday. You can stop by from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on those days.
