AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - It’s a busy week to work in the hospitality, retail and food and beverage industries in the CSRA.

On Wednesday, we stopped by downtown Augusta to see how things are going, halfway through the week.

Thousands of out-of-towners are looking to enjoy what Augusta has to offer.

From souvenirs at Augusta and Co. to classic eateries like Mellow Mushroom and Augusta’s own El Paso.

Businesses say this week is economically impactful as more people come into town for golf, especially after Hurricane Helene hit the area.

We caught up with management at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Augusta, who say it’s good to be back on their feet after the hurricane.

Getting ready for Easter? Here are some events happening in our area

With Easter just around the corner, you may be wanting to check out some local events for your family to enjoy.

Multiple Easter Egg hunts and other festivities are happening across South Mississippi.

“Obviously it’s been rough down here ever since Helene came through,” said Parker Edwards, general manager at Mellow Mushroom. “It is nice to get the business flowing again back down here, sidewalks are starting to get back together a little bit more, so it is nice being able to be busy.”

You can enjoy live music at Mellow Mushroom on Thursday at 7 p.m.

“It’s a lot of fun, you know we got a lot of regulars who come in all the time, but seeing all the outsiders come in and really kind of it’s a different space in here seeing the different vibe and everything, it’s fun seeing them react to it,” said Edwards.

Obed Castillo, the owner of El Paso, tells us he’s seeing customers from around the world.

“People from everywhere in the world are coming to our restaurant, like from New York, from Mexico, from a lot of different countries come this year, so it is really good, I see a lot of people from other countries in Augusta,” said Castillo.

Over in downtown Aiken, live music for Amp the Alley is going on all week in the evenings if you’re looking for something to do, and there are plenty of local eateries and shops with extended hours this week to welcome patrons.
