AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Throughout golf’s history, certain players have dominated the game. Hogan, Player, Nicklaus and Tiger.

And golf’s next great could be carving his legacy before our eyes.

“Scottie has certainly poked his nose out in front of the pack right now,” Honorary Starter and golf great Tom Watson said.

Scottie Scheffler has been world No. 1 for 134 weeks throughout his career.

He’s won all over the world, but he seems to shine the brightest where the lights are the brightest – at the Masters.

“Scottie’s as smooth as anybody out here that plays,” said Boyd McLeod.

With a win this year, Scheffler would become the ninth player to win three green jackets.

He’d be the fourth player to win back-to-back Masters titles.

And he’d Jack Nicklaus as the only players to win three times in four years.

“The thing about Scottie is he’s getting himself in the conversation for the last three years have been pretty darn good,” said Rob Gravley.

But it’s not just Scheffler’s game people are drawn to.

His laid-back and humble personality make him one of the patron’s favorite players.

“He just seems like a real person … He just seems down to Earth and relatable,” said Tom Reagan.

Kayli Gravley said: “I love his Christian view on like keeping family close and God first and giving him the glory.”

And at just 28 years old, the best may still be yet to come.
