4 people studying at Emory University have visas revoked, school says

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Four people studying at Emory University have had their visas revoked, the school announced on Thursday.
Three of those affected are Emory alumni, who the school said remain under Emory’s immigration sponsorship to finish their post-graduate training. The other is a current student.
The school said its International Student and Scholar Services office discovered on Tuesday that the four people’s records in ICE’s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System had been terminated.

Students and those participating in other educational and exchange programs who do not have a current visa could be detained and deported.
Emory said it has reached out to the individuals to provide .
The four aren’t alone. Hundreds of international students across the country have had their visas revoked as President Donald Trump’s istration continues to crack down on immigration.

The announcement also comes as Emory was named as one of dozens of universities being investigated by the Education Department for alleged racial discrimination as the federal government pushes to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
