2-year-old dead after being shot in southeast Atlanta apartment, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An infant has died after being shot in southeast Atlanta, according to police.

According to police, officers responded to Hugh Spalding Hospital around 10:54 a.m. about a child being shot. When they arrived, they found a two-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound being treated by medical staff.

However, the toddler was pronounced dead.

Police say their investigation showed that the incident happened inside an apartment at 100 Bell St. SE.

At this time, police say there are no outstanding suspects.

The Atlanta Police Department is actively investigating to find out how the firearm was discharged in the apartment.
