Busy skies across the CSRA as patrons return home
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - After all of the golf week excitement, the skies are busy as everybody returns home.
Whether it’s aboard a enger flight or private jet, Augusta Regional, Daniel Field and Aiken Regional airports have their work cut out for them.
A busy week as people come in and out of Augusta.
“We’ve seen people from all over the world,” said Lauren Smith, marketing and public relations assistant director at Augusta Regional Airport.
Like Vancouver.
“I think the coolest day was when Rory was paired with Conners,” said Colton Cook, a patron. As Canadians, we were coming to root for him, but just to kind of see the Masters in person and hear the roars, it was pretty incredible.”
And with thousands of others coming for golf week, our airports have stayed busy.
“We have seen a bit of an increase in the number of engers this year,” said Smith. “Normally, we have about 30,000 people come through a month. However, we’ll see that just this week alone.”
And to compare just how busy the tarmacs have been, on April 13, 2023, there were 254 arrivals and departures. In 2024, there were 404 and now 482 in 2025.
McIlroy showed he can handle the tough times; it made him a champion
Rory McIlroy finally has a Masters green jacket. In many ways, the final round resembled his last 11 years trying to get the one major he didn't have.

Daniel Field also saw a slight increase, going from 2199 arrivals and departures last year to 2217 this year. However, they had extra sets of hands to help out when needed.
“Yeah, we help out,” said June Moody, Augusta Regional enger assistance liaison. “We carry luggage, we get water. If somebody needs it, we direct
them to wherever they need to be. We assist with wheelchairs, anything that we can do, I’m here to assist the engers.”
Making sure our visitors want to come back again.
“I love the people,” said Moody. “I love the airport. I like talking to people. We’ve seen people from all over the world.”
