Georgia deputy dies in off-duty accident, sheriff’s office says
BARROW COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of a young deputy following an off-duty crash.
The sheriff’s office announced that Officer Braydon Butler ed away from his injuries on a Facebook post Monday afternoon.
According to the sheriff’s office, the young deputy was only four weeks away from graduating from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy before he died.
“Anyone who knew Braydon knew he loved to serve God and others,” the sheriff’s office said. “All he ever wanted to do was use his servant heart to be a light to others as he was anytime you were around him.”
Butler started his career at the sheriff’s office through its High School Explorers program at 14 years old. He graduated from Barrow County and was hired as a detention officer.
In the post, the sheriff’s office said even though their hearts are broken, they know Butler “was welcomed into the arms of the Lord.”

The sheriff’s office is asking the community to keep them and the deputy’s family and friends lifted during this difficult time.
According to the sheriff’s office, Butler’s family is requesting donations to be made to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Employee Fund.
