Unfinished Legacies: how AI technology allows fatal drug overdose victims to share their stories

(InvestigateTV) — Each year, tens of thousands of people die from drug overdoses.
However, some victims don’t realize they’re taking a risk with a lethal dose. In 2019, counterfeit pills were involved in 2% of overdose deaths.
Just two years later, in 2021, that more than doubled to 4.7%.
According to the CDC, the victims are more often teens and young adults.
A new anti-drug campaign is like nothing you have ever seen before, using artificial intelligence to allow those who died due to fentanyl to tell their stories.
Reporter Kristin Crowley shows us how this campaign brings overdose victims “back to life” and hopes people will heed their warnings.
