Body found in burning car at Furman University, Greenville County coroner says

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said they were called to the scene of a burning car with a body inside it.

The fire happened within the Montague Village of Furman University on Saturday, but not on the main campus, according to Furman University police officers.

Officials said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is leading the investigation.

In an email to students and faculty, the Furman University Police Department said the death might be an arson.

Furman University police also said they do not believe the victim was a student or employee of the university.
