Claflin University student shot dead in Orangeburg County

Claflin University student O’Brian Grant was pronounced dead on the scene of a shooting, according to the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim in a shooting death Saturday.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said a 20-year-old man from Santee was found deceased around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

O’Brian Grant was pronounced dead on the scene Saturday, according to the Coroner’s Office.

Claflin University has said that Grant was a student at the university.

Police chase takes Aiken County deputies across county lines

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has said deputies are chasing a suspect through the county.

The coroner also said an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

Investigators found the victim by the roadside of Legendary Drive after a 911 call.

Claflin University said in a statement: “It is with profound sadness that we share the ing of one of our students, O’Brian Grant. He will be deeply missed by the Claflin University community.”
