Days after his return, Braves RHP Spencer Strider goes back on the 15-day IL
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Braves put pitcher Spencer Strider back on the injured list Monday, the team announced on social media.
Strider was placed on the 15-day injured list with a strained right hamstring. The list is backdated to April 18, they said. It happened while playing catch today, the team said.
Strider made his return to the Braves on Wednesday afternoon, where he allowed two runs and five hits in five-plus innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, but the Braves lost 3-1 to fall eight games below .500 at 5-13.
It’s unclear who will pitch Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Strider struck out five, walked one and hit a batter. He threw 97 pitches, 58 for strikes.
It was his first big league appearance in 376 days because of surgery to repair damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
“He’s extremely important to our club and especially to our rotation,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said after the game.

Strider struck out 13 in 5 1/3 innings in a dominant rehab start at Triple-A last Thursday, allowing one run and three hits. He threw 90 pitches, 62 for strikes, and reached 97 mph with his fastball.
The Braves have called pitcher Michael Petersen back to Atlanta.
