Bus searched at Pine Hill after police find pieces of disassembled weapon
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A school bus was searched at Pine Hills Middle School on Tuesday after pieces of a disassembled weapon were found in a bag.
On Wednesday, Pine Hill Middle School families received a letter informing them of the incident.
School officials say that during dismissal, a teacher noticed several students displaying suspicious behavior. Richmond County School System Police conducted a search on the students and found pieces of a disassembled weapon in a bag.
Upon further investigation, s became aware that a student may have a weapon on one of the buses. School officials say that out of an abundance of caution, RCSS Police searched the bus, and no weapons were found.
The incident was addressed by RCSS Police following the code of student conduct and discipline, according to school officials.
On Monday, police responded to a situation where it appeared a student pointed an item that looked like a firearm at another student during dismissal at Cross Creek High School.
Augusta mom accused of threatening to kill principal
A Jamestown Elementary School parent has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill the school’s principal, according to law enforcement.

District police responded immediately, according to the school, and drew their weapon out of caution for student safety.
Officials say upon further investigation, the item was found to be a toy gun.
s say they took the item from the student and the incident was addressed by police according to the Code of Student Conduct and Discipline.
“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Please take this opportunity to speak to your child about the importance of school safety and the appropriateness of items they bring to school,” said Latasha Goodman, interim principal, in a letter sent home to families.
