S.C. filing shows bid to seize assets of Brittanee Drexel’s killer
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The mother of the New York teen murdered during a 2009 spring break trip to Myrtle Beach has filed new court documents in her recently won lawsuit against her daughter’s killer looking to seize his assets.
Raymond Moody pleaded guilty in October 2022 to the April 2009 kidnap, rape and murder of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. It came after Drexel’s remains were found in Georgetown County.

In February, Dawn Pleckan, Drexel’s mother, was granted a judgment in a civil suit demanding Moody pay a total of $700 million for his role in the teen’s death.
In court documents filed Thursday, Pleckan’s attorneys say that, since that judgment has not been paid out, it should be paid in the form of Moody’s personal Georgetown County property.
