WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency held a housing resource fair over the weekend for those affected by Hurricane Helene in need of resources.

Survivors met with state, federal and local agencies for services like affordable housing and rental assistance programs.

They were also able to learn about different educational funding resources.

BY THE NUMBERS

FEMA aid: How agency has helped Georgia since Helene

  1. As of April 17, FEMA has approved more than 402,600 applications for assistance and has approved more than $359.7 million in assistance to survivors for Hurricane Helene and Tropical Storm Debby
  2. This includes more than $10.2 million in rental assistance to more than 4,200 Georgia families.
  3. FEMA has secured long-term housing for nearly 180 families.
  4. FEMA has approved more than $461.9 million to remove debris and pay for management costs due to Helene.

FEMA has helped more than 4,000 families in Georgia and is here to help for as long as it is needed.

“We had rental assistance also available for folks that were in need of finding a safe, sanitary and functional housing to put a roof over their heads. And, we just continue to adapt and also continue to just be aware of what’s going on, and at the end of the day, we are here for the survivors and help them for their recovery process,” James Wood, media relations specialist, FEMA.
