Woman allegedly impersonated ICE agent to kidnap ex-boyfriend’s wife
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WTVY/Gray News) - A woman is accused of impersonating an ICE agent to kidnap her ex-boyfriend’s wife.
Investigators said LaTrance Battle, 52, allegedly posed as an ICE agent and kidnapped a woman in Florida.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office said Battle showed up at the victim’s home wearing a black shirt with “ICE” printed on the front. She allegedly showed a sheriff’s office business card and had a handheld radio to give the impression that she was a law enforcement officer.
Battle told the victim that she needed to go with her to the sheriff’s office. The victim said she believed Battle was an ICE agent and that she is in the process of becoming a legal United States resident. When they were in the car, Battle forcefully grabbed the victim’s phone when she was trying to her lawyer and husband. After they arrived at an apartment complex, the victim suspected something was wrong, so she fled and called law enforcement, according to authorities.
Battle was later arrested and charged with kidnapping, robbery by sudden snatching and impersonating a law enforcement officer. She is also charged with violating her probation.
