LINCOLNTON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Georgia Department of Natural Resources had a special delivery for Clarks Hill Lake on Tuesday and Wednesday.

About 150,000 fingerling largemouth bass have been released over the past two days.

They’re only a month old, but ready to go.

All it takes is some acclimating to the lake water and transferring to the boat, and then they are all released.

Wheelin’ with Riley: Helene’s lasting impact on trails

We’re approaching seven months since Hurricane Helene, and we are still feeling the effects. Some of those lasting impacts are on our trails.

Bass were released on Wednesday near the Soap Creek boat ramp.

The fish released at the lake recently were raised at the Richmond Hill and Cordele fish hatcheries.

“Again, they knocked it out of the park this year with production,” said Aaron Gray, a fisheries biologist with Georgia DNR. “Both hatcheries had extra fish that needed some homes. I suggested Clark’s Hill as a destination for them, so that’s why we’re here today.”:

Fun fact: Last year, 1.5 million largemouth bass were stocked in public waters in the state of Georgia by the Georgia DNR Wildlife Resources Division.
