COLCHESTER, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A man in New Hampshire has been arrested after a 14-year-old girl revealed to her therapist that she was sexually assaulted at a birthday party, according to state police.

Troopers arrested 39-year-old Michael Parkinson of Clearmont, New Hampshire on Friday.

The alleged assault happened at a birthday party for the victim’s younger brother in Colchester, Connecticut in April 2024.

According to an arrest warrant, the victim told her therapist that Parkinson, who was her mom’s boyfriend, touched her inappropriately in a dark bedroom and also forced her to touch him inappropriately.

The victim repeatedly told Parkinson “no,” she said.

The victim also said there had been previous instances where Parkinson would put his hands up her shirt and that “sometimes my mom would be in the same room and not know. I never said anything.”

According to the warrant, when the victim’s mother found out, she ended the relationship she had with Parkinson and was granted a protective order.

According to police, the victim wrote in a diary that she was worried that if she told her mom about the assault, it would end her mom’s relationship with Parkinson.

Parkinson was charged with illegal sexual with a victim under the age of 16 and second-degree sexual assault.

He is being held on a $250,000 bond and scheduled to face a judge on Monday.
