COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM/Gray News) - A Georgia family is praising hospital staff and the Lord above for bringing their baby boy back to life.

When baby Landon was born with little to no signs of life, doctors with Piedmont Columbus Regional told his mother and father, Tessa and Vintrez Davis, they didn’t believe he would make it. The parents leaned on their faith and say God answered their prayers.

Landon, who has the nickname “Baby Lazarus,” is now a healthy 3-month-old, WTVM reports.

“To hold this little boy—God is so good,” Tessa Davis said.

It was her second pregnancy, and Tessa Davis says, overall, it was a healthy one. She was induced Jan. 16, and during that process, there were complications.

“So, that’s when they decided I needed an emergency C-section. It took about seven minutes for them to deliver from saying it to him [Landon] coming out,” Tessa Davis said.

Doctors say once Landon was delivered he was lifeless. They performed R three times, but it didn’t look good.

Neonatologist Dr. Jerry Chen got an urgent page to report to the operating room.

“The picture that was forming as Landon came into the world and as we stabilized him... was one of devastation. I told dad then mom that he likely wasn’t going to make it,” Chen said.

Vintrez Davis says hearing that his son may not make it was devastating, and he knew only God could turn the circumstances around.

“I called our pastor. He prayed for us and began to speak life over our son, just encouraged us to stay positive,” Vintrez Davis said. “About five minutes after he prayed, that’s when Dr. Chen and his staff noticed that his [Landon’s] heart rate began to increase.”

Sandy Threadgill, a nurse of 20 years, says she’s seen a lot of deliveries with complications, but there was something different about this one.

“As far as deliveries and being that far into a resuscitation with no response then seeing him come out the way he has, it warms your heart because you just know that’s a miracle, and God did have a hand in that,” Threadgill said.

Piedmont Columbus Regional is a level three neonatal care facility, one of only six in the state of Georgia.
