Finding Solutions: Second Annual Izzy Scott Splash Summit
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Izzy Scott Foundation and the Salvation Army Kroc Center are partnering once again to host the second annual Splash Summit.
Registration is open, and parents can sign their kids up for water safety sessions.
The Izzy Scott Foundation is finding solutions to provide a safe space for kids to learn how to swim.
The Izzy Scott Foundation, alongside the Kroc Center, is gearing up for what’s sure to be another successful Splash Summit.
“We lighten the energy a lot. We’ll have DJs, nice upbeat music, face painting, superheroes,” said Walter Scott, The Izzy Scott Foundation.
Finding Solutions: Local mom advocates for R after son’s ing
One local mom has been an advocate for cardiac arrest awareness after her 13-year-old son, Monty, went into cardiac arrest during a basketball game and died at the hospital a month later.

And while it’s a fun time for kids, it’s also an opportunity for them to take a safety around water class.
“The day of the event, we will have our safety around water program, and that will educate kids on what to do when they’re around water. But when you come to the event, you will have an opportunity to sign up for swim lessons. Last year, at our first annual splash summit, we were actually able to get 115 through the program. This year, we aim to do over 300,” said Scott.
The foundation is named after Izzy Scott, a four-year-old boy who drowned during private swim lessons in 2022.
His family has since made it their mission to raise funds to local swim lessons, giving families a safe place to go.
“Around the time we were looking for swim lessons for Israel, we were calling in December and getting on a waiting list for summer swim lessons, and that was an issue. One of the reasons why we’re doing everything that we can to expand that in this area, and hopefully we can expand to other areas as well,” said Scott.
Finding Solutions: 3-man team dedicated to taking care of the Greeneway
The city of North Augusta is finding solutions in creating a group that is dedicated to the upkeep and appearance of the Greeneway.
Parents will have the opportunity to sign their child up for swim lessons through the foundation at one of five different locations across the CSRA, including the Kroc Center.
“It’s such a beautiful way to give back to the community, especially with an organization like the Izzy Scott Foundation that dealt with such a tragedy and was able to make something beautiful from that, and so we are honored to be working with them,” said Janelys Villalta, marketing & PR manager, Salvation Army of Augusta.
It’s a fun event, with an important message.
“The biggest message that I want to convey to all parents is that Israel, just like every other child, loved to play around water, and the best thing you can do for your child is put them in swim lessons so they can do it safely,” said Scott.
