Georgia Shift encourages people to get involved in local government

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Augusta Commissioner Jordan Johnson, Georgia Shift and the Change Makers Academy hosted the Power to the People Justice Rally.

The event helped educate residents about how the public service commission impacts your bills and rights.

Attendees learned how to make their voices heard in the community and stay aware of their rights.

Over a dozen Richmond County students commit to a career in education

These students will a growing network of more than 50 Richmond County School System alumni preparing to become the next generation of teachers.

“Our biggest outreach that we do focus on is voter registration,” Kay Turner, the community impact coordinator for Georgia Shift, says. “Our goal is to get out there, get individuals ed and spread the word on what is out there politically, what is on the ballot, who is running on the ballot. Our biggest thing we get people ed to vote and get them encouraged to vote.”
