Local teen makes history during Aiken Tech graduation
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - It’s graduation season and a local teenager is making history at Aiken Technical College.
When News 12 first introduced you to 12-year-old Megyn Bolen, she was already a high school graduate - received a scholarship and was working towards an associate’s degree at Aiken Tech.
Her parents said they knew she was a fast learner at an early age as she completed two grades every year starting from when she was six years old.
Over a dozen Richmond County students commit to a career in education
These students will a growing network of more than 50 Richmond County School System alumni preparing to become the next generation of teachers.
Now at the ripe old age of 13, Megyn has made history as the youngest graduate in Aiken Technical College history.
Megyn graduated with honors, and Her dream is to be an orthodontist.
“It feels unreal honestly it feels like just yesterday,” Megyn says. “I just starting and I still haven’t processed it all yet and I guess in the moment it doesn’t feel like anything out of the ordinary because I’ve been doing the accelerated track but when I talk to people my own age I’m like, whoa I would be in 7th grade this year.”
Next, she will study physics at Oregon State Online and then study at Lander in the fall.
