80-year-old fulfills promise to himself, graduates from S.C. State
ORANGEBURG, S.C. - On Friday, an 80-year-old Summerville native graduated from South Carolina State University.
Linwood Riddick graduated from the university on Friday, completing a promise to himself in the process.

Riddick graduated from the university with a BA in Music, driving from Summerville to Orangeburg to attend classes every day to earn his degree.
Riddick put his college education on hold to serve in the military. At that time, segregation also presented challenges for the veteran to gain an education.

Now at the ripe old age of 13, Megyn has made history as the youngest graduate in Aiken Technical College history.
Riddick made a promise to himself that he was going to walk across the stage before he left this Earth.
