Local farmers get the spotlight during S.C. Ag + Art Tour
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The South Carolina Ag + Art Tour started last weekend, and Aiken ed the fun Saturday.
Twenty-two counties participate to show off their local farms and artists.
Aiken County was ed by Newberry and Berkeley counties on Saturday.

As scammers continue stealing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars from electronic food benefit cards, federal agencies are linking the fraud to international crime rings.

Aiken County had 10 locations visitors could visit with items for sale like flowers, compost and artwork.
Some places even had animals you could meet.
We went to the farmers market, where one local grower said it’s important to local farmers.
“Coming to the market is actually kind of an amazing thing,” said Donald Snavely of Two Lucky Dogs Farm. “First off, I get to really meet people from the community, and second off, I start to realize how much garbage is in the grocery store versus coming here. You know, Kroger says that, ‘Hey, we local farmers.’ No, they don’t. Here, they local farmers and they they encourage people to come out, make their own produce, their own breads and things like that. So they can buy quality food and quality meats.”
80-year-old fulfills promise to himself, graduates from S.C. State
Linwood Riddick graduated from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, completing a promise to himself in the process.

Snavely says people can come tour his farm, which specializes in mushrooms.

The Ag + Art Tour is going on until June 29, and it will be headed to Bamberg County next weekend.
