North Augusta Council holds drop in for public’s input on Georgia Avenue

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The North Augusta City Council heard from the community about solutions to making Georgia Avenue safer as the city grows.

Business owners and community made their voices heard at a public input session.

It centered around calming down traffic and improving pedestrian access.

Two main points at the meeting centered around the plan to put a roundabout at the end of Georgia Avenue and Carolina Avenue.

The annual show honoring the military community is on Saturday.

Some community were on board while others wanted to see a traffic light - citing traffic and cost concerns.

The other area of discussion was about adding parallel parking in front of businesses to replace the angled parking spots currently there.

Some of the public were in favor while others were not as interested.

A North Augusta City Council study said the area averages 50 crashes a year.

American Hero Pro Rodeo donates $27,000 to charity

The proceeds from the America Hero Pro Rodeo went to three charities.

The goal of the input session was working towards develop a long-term vision and strategy for Georgia Avenue.
