CHICAGO (Gray News) – Police said nearly a dozen students were taken to the hospital after eating cookies with marijuana in them at a Chicago elementary school.

According to WLS, a total of 22 students at Fort Dearborn Elementary School ate the cookies that contained THC on Tuesday, and 11 of them were taken to the hospital.

All students who were treated have been released.

Parents said a student brought the cookies to school, but further details are not known about how the student got ahold of them.

In a letter to families obtained by WGN, the school’s principal confirmed that students had ingested the substance, noting that was “immediately provided” to the “impacted community .”

Several police officers, firefighters and EMTs responded to the school.

Officials said all the students are expected to be OK.
