Shooting suspect arrested after manhunt in Wilkes County

WASHINGTON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man is in critical condition and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in Washington, according to the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.

Blake Hill was arrested on Monday and transported to Wilkes County jail.

Deputies say they responded to WD Package Store on Whitehall Street on Monday and found a victim with a single gunshot wound to the left side of his body.

Investigators determined that the incident had taken place at a home on Peter Street.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies went to a stabbing this afternoon.

The sheriff’s office says Hill fired one round through an open door of the victim’s car. The victim then fled the scene to WD Package Store, where he called 911.

A manhunt was started, and the suspect was located near the scene and arrested.

The victim was transported to an Augusta area hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

The case is currently under investigation.
