COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man is facing charges after allegedly groping an inmate at South Carolina state prison.
The South Carolina Department of Corrections said 46-year-old Ainsworth Atkinson was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual misconduct with an inmate.

According to warrants, the incident happened in November 2024 when Atkinson allegedly groped the inmate at the SCDC pavilion on Broad River Road.
Documents also state this happened during a work detail where Atkinson “was the sole supervising authority” over the inmate. Warrants also state Atkinson confessed to the incident in a post-Miranda statement.
SCDC officials said Atkinson was fired from his job.
