LAKELAND, Fla. (Atlanta News First) - Select flavors of baby food pouches are being pulled from shelves in Publix due to possible lead contamination.

Publix announced May 9 that they were voluntarily recalling GreenWise Pear, Kiwi Spinach and Pea Body Baby Food due to potentially contaminated with high levels of lead.

The recall comes after the U.S. Food and Drug istration was made aware of the potential contamination following routine sampling of the product.

“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted products have been removed from all store shelves,” Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous said. “To date, there have been no reported cases of illness.”

Customers who bought the baby pouches should return them to their store for a full refund.

GreenWise Baby Food is produced by Bowman Andros LLC and sold at Publix grocery stores in eight states.

If customers have any questions about the recall, they can call Publix’s customer care department at 1-800-242-1227 or visit the Publix website.
