Courtesy S.C. boat checks offered for Memorial Day weekend

McCORMICK, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Ahead of one of the busiest boating weekends, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is offering courtesy boat inspections across the state.

During the inspections, officers will check to make sure each boat has the necessary equipment and proper registrations.

If boats are found to be non-compliant, owners will not be ticketed but will be offered the chance to fix any issues before launching their boat.

The inspections will be offered May 24-26.

In the CSRA, inspections will be offered in McCormick County at Dorn Landing on Lake Thurmond from 10 a.m. to noon May 25.

Possible changes coming to Georgia Avenue in North Augusta

Multiple changes on Georgia Avenue in North Augusta are possible. In the coming weeks, councilmen will vote possible parallel parking changes, crosswalk changes etc.

Throughout the rest of the state, the following public boat landings will be available:

May 24:

Anderson County: Twin Lakes Landing, Lake Hartwell: 10 a.m. to Noon
Charleston County: Wapoo Cut Landing, Intracoastal Waterway (ICW): 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Colleton County: Bennett’s Point, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Fairfield County: Molly Creek Landing, Lake Wateree: 10 a.m. to Noon
Greenwood County: SC Highway 72 Landing at Break on the Lake, Lake Greenwood: 10 a.m. to Noon
Horry County: Little River Landing: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Lexington County: Lake Murray Dam Landing: 10 a.m. to Noon

May 25:

Beaufort County: Broad River Landing: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Berkely County: William Dennis Landing, Tail Race Canal, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Charleston County: Remley’s Point, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Clarendon County: Alex Harvin Landing, Lake Marion: 10 a.m. to Noon
Kershaw County: Clearwater Cove Landing, Lake Wateree: 10 a.m. to Noon

May 26:

Beaufort County: Lemon Island Boat Ramp: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Charleston County: Limehouse Landing, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
