Driver charged in Augusta hit-and-run that killed 24-year-old pedestrian
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A pedestrian is dead and a driver has been charged after a hit-and-run Monday, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says Taveon Wright, 24, was crossing Windsor Spring Road when he was hit.
Wright was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m.
25-year-old bicyclist dies after traffic accident in Wagener
A bicyclist died after a collision with another vehicle in Wagener, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said Friday.

Around 2 p.m., deputies say they went to the intersection of Windsor Spring Road and Cross Creek Road in reference to a hit-and-run.
On the scene, deputies say they found a male pedestrian lying in the roadway.
Investigators have identified the driver as Chiquita Dawson, 45.
On Friday, we learned that Dawson is charged with hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident with death or serious injury, DUI/alcohol/less safe, possession of fentanyl and no insurance coverage.
Vehicle bursts into flames in crash in Old Jackson Highway
A traffic stop turned into a vehicle fire on Old Jackson Highway after the suspect drove away from Aiken County deputies.

Deputies say Dawson left the scene of the accident and parked her car down the street at Richmond County Fire Department Station 18 and tried to run away on foot.
Dawson attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies.
The pedestrian was crossing Windsor Spring Road near Sparkle Car Wash when he was hit by a vehicle going south, the coroner’s office says.
Dawson was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, according to investigators.
The investigation is still ongoing.
